Hard Core Decoys

Hard Core Decoys
Frequently Asked Questions

How well do your decoys move in the wind?

The real key to movement is realistic movement, a subtle back and forth movement. The decoys will begin to move in a 10 mile an hour wind.

What can I use to touch up my decoys with?

The best paint available to you is flat black and brown Krylon Fusion.

Can I mix the Lessers with Honkers?

Yes, this creates the ultimate look in realism in your spread. With the extensive realistic body postures, shapes and sizes, you can't get a better look of nature in decoys.

In tall stubble cornfields how do the geese see your decoys if they are not oversized?

Keep in mind real geese can find each other so size is not as big of a factor as once thought. Another point is geese do not look at a field from the same point of view that we do. They are looking down, not across.

What are the best combinations to buy in decoys if you are in a field or water?

Field--one combo pack to 3 feeder packs. Water--one combo pack to 4 resting packs.

Do your decoys work in high pressured areas?

The original concept was to build these decoys as alternatives to the taxidermy mounted decoys which are used in high pressured areas.

Are the calling decoys useful in the spread?

Keep in mind when hunting geese you are often calling at them and to have decoys with their mouth open is realistically correct. Also it is more body positions in your spread.

Why do I need protective bags for my decoys?

There are multiple reasons for having bags. The first is while riding in your trailer or pick-up they protect the paint from getting marred from each other. They are actually easier to pack large number of decoys into the field if you are unable to drive into your spot. They help keep frost and snow during the set up time in the morning from getting on the backs and heads of the decoys. You can do this by taking the decoy out of the bag and placing the bag on the backs of each decoy until hunting time starts.

What can I do if I hunt in deep water an want to use your decoys?

Go to a steel manufacturer and ask for 1/4 in cold rolled rod and cut them to the desired length to put them into your base on the decoy or put them into the ground  and still have the decoy barely out of the water.

How can I clean my decoys and not hurt the paint?

Kitchen soap and a garden hose with a soft brush will do the trick. Keep in mind a clean decoy will hunt better!!

Is the plastic durable?

We use a tough plastic that can take a truck driving over it and keep going.
